In 2027, the world is a much different place. Technology, and those who control it, rules the world. Cities are vastly automated, computerized, and populated with service robots. Crime is at a world-wide low, life spans at an all time high, and the overall sustainability of the planet has been achieved mainly through the discovery of Ultracite, a man-made mineral capable of producing as much power as an entire nuclear reactor plant, but with a machine the size of a common microwave.

When one of the systems becomes corrupted due to poor programming, it causes a chain reaction of interconnected systems resulting in a world-wide meltdown. Most of the Ultracite reactors explode killing millions of workers and releasing a toxin in the immediate area. Almost every life form that comes in contact with the deadly toxin is killed, and most of those who survive are left in critical condition. But for a select few, the reactions are far different..
